Lunch

It’s not a lot of variety. My lunches are usually a combination of somen with a meat dish and salad or a sandwich of sorts.
My favorite lunch was the time when I had stir-fried pork with the leftover rice and miso soup. It was the most enjoyable lunch I’ve had all month. Of course [...]

In an effort to avoid the office cafeteria’s MSG-laden food, I have started bringing lunch to work.
Most days, it is an egg/tuna/chicken mayo sandwich and a salad. I prepare the filling the evening before and make the sandwich in the morning. Usually there are extras and KJ eats them for breakfast.
I’d admit that [...]

Recipe taken from Dutch Girl Cooking’s wonderful food blog here.
I used Dory fillets and served it with fried par-boiled potatoes.
KJ didn’t like it as much as the previous fish I did. I think he has an issue with the tomatoes.
You may notice when I make dinner, I tend to bake and use cheese [...]

Xy wasn’t a fan though but I wasn’t holding my breath.
So, here it is – served with a side of mashed potatoes and Amatuer Gourmet’s Best Broccoli.
Sorry about the less-than delectable picture – this was taken off KJ’s handphone camera. I can tell you that it tastes better than it looks.
I wasn’t able to find [...]

Okay, so my previous dinner plan didn’t go so good.
I couldn’t find any sage that day at NTUC so instead of sage and balsamic pork chops, I made a miso-mayo version (my mother’s recipe) which turned out too tough (I forgot to tenderise the meat) and a tad salty (salt is my nemesis). KJ helped [...]

Inspired by a couple of recipes I stumbled upon, I plan to cook dinner for my folks this weekend.
First up, The Best Broccoli of Your Life found on the delightful Amateur Gourmet’s blog:

I wonder if this is enough to sway KJ from his non-vege diet.
In case the broccoli fails to get KJ’s attention, there is always [...]

This is the easiest thing I have ever baked. Bar none. You basically mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, roll the dough out, stick it in the oven for 10 minutes and voila!

The entire process took less than 30 minutes. Easy peasy.
Maybe too easy. I had to do it twice and still I did [...]
