Just checking in in case anyone was wondering where I was.
This week has been crazy. Work, sleep training, more work, more sleep training. All the fatigue built up left me wanting more sleep instead of blogging, although I have many things to update.
The company’s financial year-end is finally here and my week has been a whirlwind of report reviews, corrections, typing out of long long review notes. The Good Friday holiday made the work week even shorter so like every year-end, I brought my reports home to review. It is difficult to work with the little one toddling about so thankfully KJ was around to keep her occupied. We even managed to go out for dinner and a quick shopping run to round up her birthday things.
Then there is the sleep training. Some of my close friends will know that Xy is a terrible, terrible sleeper. Unfortunately, she has neither gotten KJ’s sleep gene (read: ability to sleep through almost ANYTHING) nor mine (read: long and lazy afternoon naps). She has always been waking up 3-4 times a night to nurse and frankly, I am mostly too tired to do anything else except to feed her as she pleases. But when things took a turn for the worse over the past few weeks, something must be done. Papa and I decided that a one year old should not be waking up almost every hour to feed or play. So for the past week, if she woke, one of us will carry and rock her back to sleep (which typically take 30 minutes to an hour), and only feed her once in the morning. By Friday, KJ and I were 2 very tired zombies. Preliminary results are mixed. There was a night when she slept an almost 6 hour block, and another night when she woke up at 4am and wailed her head off demanding to be fed. We will keep trying and hope to see more consistent and encouraging results.
So that was my week. How was yours?
I hope your sleep training will get results soon!
thanks! it’s early days yet but we’re trying!
