Hand sanitizer

When SARS hit Singapore almost 6 years ago, I was about to leave my ex-firm. I still remember reading in the news about how companies set up disaster recovery plans to cope in the event that their staff contracts the fatal disease and fail to report to work.
My partners scrambled to come up with a [...]

Blessed Year of the Ox

So we cleaned the house.
Then we had dinner, which was quiet this year. Some relatives travelled out of the country to the hill of fortunes, and sis-in-law being married, had dinner at her in-law’s. Xy sat quietly at the dinner table, gazing at the smoke coming out of boiling pots of steamboat soup and hotplate [...]

A lesson in 3D

One of my husband’s passions is 3D animation. He’d learnt it in school, and it became part of his work and his everyday life.
I never understood how he could work at his 4 quadrant-screen for hours on end, staring at wire-frames, tweaking and rigging the models until late into the night.
For a few months, he [...]

Keeping up with my new year resolution, I made some almond biscottis a couple of weeks ago.
I should learn to take better pictures of my food and use a proper camera. This was taken from my iPhone.
My husband knows that I love the biscottis from Starbucks and always buys me a pack whenever he passes [...]

Xinyue – 9 months

This is a typical sight lately in the morning.
I will plonk her in her little yi kio (母子椅) while I get gather the things for her morning bath. Sometimes she’d wait patiently, fiddling a toy. Other times, she’d whine at the top of her voice, waking everyone up at 7am in the morning.
After Grandma’s surgery, [...]

A weekend summarised in pictures. Friday’s dinner at La Nonna. Saturday’s lunch at Aston’s. Flowers, gifts and a small birthday cake.
For most of the weekend, xy had a fever from her flu vaccination. That explains the cooling patch on her forehead and her listlessness (if you can see from the pictures – I cannot seem [...]

31st

I turn 31 years old today. Apart from the little detail, this was just like any other Saturdays.
We got up at about 8, bathed the baby, went for breakfast with the in-laws. Came back, did some chores, brought my mother out for lunch and did a spot of grocery (and CNY) shopping.
We did not do [...]

Last Friday, Xy suddenly decided to start crawling forward.
She has been on her fours since she was about 7 months old, but had never succeeded in moving forward. She’d pause for an incredibly long time (in her fours – the default starting position), lift her butt really high (as if doing the downward dog), then either sit back [...]

Lunch of sorts

For lunch today, a peach and almond tart and hot chocolate from Spinelli, and a Four Leaves egg and tuna sandwich.
My head fills like mashed potatoes today from a severe lack of restful sleep and after the hot chocolate, it feels even more clogged up then before.
Oh well, let’s just focus on getting the really urgent things [...]
